Dr Sumedha Ekanayake graduated with a medical degree in Sri Lanka in 2003. He gained extensive clinical experience across various hospital roles, including anaesthesiology, and worked in medical practices throughout Sri Lanka until 2015.
After migrating to Australia, Sumedha began practising as a General Practitioner in New South Wales. In 2018, he relocated to Gippsland, where he continued his work as a GP until 2022.
Sumedha became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2019. He has a strong passion for medical education and is actively involved in teaching medical students. His special areas of interest include geriatrics, preventative medicine, obstetrics, obesity management, cardiac health, diabetes, men’s health, sports medicine and diagnostic dilemmas.
Outside of work, he enjoys playing chess, participating in sports, travelling, and spending quality time with his family.
Sumedha joins North Dandenong Clinic, bringing with him a wealth of experience across all facets of General Practice.
